Black Forest Cake
Chocolate sponge with cherries, cream and kirsch – the queen of cakes.

Ingredients · for 12 servings
6 eggs
180 g sugar
120 g flour
40 g cocoa
60 g butter, melted
700 g sour cherries (jar)
3 tbsp kirsch
2 tbsp cornstarch
800 ml cream
3 sachets cream stiffener
100 g chocolate shavings
Instructions
- Beat the eggs with the sugar until very foamy, then fold in the flour, cocoa and butter.
- Bake at 180 °C for 30 minutes, let cool and cut into three layers.
- Thicken the cherry juice with cornstarch, add the cherries and let cool.
- Soak the layers with kirsch and whip the cream until stiff.
- Layer cherries and cream alternately, coat the cake and cover it with chocolate shavings.
