Ingredients · for 8 servings
550 g flour (type 550)
1 packet dried yeast (7 g)
1 orange
150 ml milk
80 g sugar
100 ml olive oil
1 tbsp ground anise
1 egg for brushing
80 g sesame seeds
Instructions
- Warm the milk gently, dissolve the yeast and 1 tsp of the sugar in it and let stand for 10 min. until the mixture foams.
- Squeeze the orange, then mix the juice and finely grated zest with the remaining sugar, the olive oil, the anise and the yeast milk.
- Work in the flour gradually and knead the dough for 10 min. until soft, slightly glossy and no longer sticky; let rise covered for 60 min.
- Divide the dough into 16 pieces, roll each into a 30 cm strand, fold the strand in half and twist loosely into a cord; join the ends into a ring.
- Place the rings on baking sheets, let rest for 20 min., brush with the beaten egg and coat densely with sesame seeds.
- Bake in a 180 °C preheated oven for 20–22 min. until deep golden brown and sounding hollow when tapped on the bottom; serve lukewarm with breakfast coffee.
