Spain's Easter French toast: bread soaked in milk, fried and sugared.

Ingredients · for 4 servings
- 8 thick slices of stale white bread
- 750 ml milk
- 1 cinnamon stick
- Zest of 1 lemon
- 100 g sugar
3 eggs- Olive oil for frying
- Cinnamon sugar for rolling
Instructions
- Boil the milk with the cinnamon stick, lemon zest and sugar, then let it cool.
- Soak the bread slices in it until saturated but still firm.
- Turn them in beaten egg.
- Fry golden brown on both sides in hot olive oil.
- Roll in cinnamon sugar straight away.
