Instructions

  1. Trim the beans and blanch them in salted water for 5 minutes, then refresh in cold water.
  2. Sweat onion and garlic in olive oil until translucent.
  3. Add the tomatoes, season with sugar, salt and pepper and reduce for 10 minutes.
  4. Fold in the beans and braise covered over low heat for 20 minutes until very tender.
  5. Scatter with basil and serve warm or lukewarm.
