Ingredients · for 4 servings
400 g ground beef
200 g ground lamb
150 g feta
1 onion
2 garlic cloves
1 egg
3 tbsp breadcrumbs
1 tsp oregano
1/2 bunch parsley
3 tbsp olive oil
Salt, pepper
Instructions
- Finely chop the onion and garlic, finely chop the parsley, and knead everything vigorously with both ground meats, the egg, breadcrumbs, oregano, salt, and pepper for 3 min.
- Chill the mixture covered for 15 min. so the breadcrumbs swell and the bifteki don't split while cooking.
- Cut the feta into four thick slices and divide the meat mixture into eight equal, flat patties about 1 cm thick.
- Place one feta slice on each patty, cover with a second patty, and carefully press the edges together so no cheese leaks out later.
- Brush the bifteki with olive oil and bake in the oven preheated to 200°C for 20–25 min., or grill for 6–7 min. per side, until well browned on the outside.
- Let rest for 5 min. before serving and bring to the table hot with tzatziki and oven-roasted potatoes.
