Onion Tart
Savoury German sheet cake with plenty of onion, sour cream and caraway.

Ingredients · for 8 servings
400 g flour
1 sachet dry yeast
200 ml lukewarm milk
60 g butter
1 tsp sugar
1 tsp salt
1.5 kg onions
250 g sour cream
3 eggs
2 tbsp flour
1 tsp caraway seeds
Nutmeg
Pepper
Instructions
- Knead a yeast dough from flour, yeast, milk, butter, sugar and salt and let it rise for 1 hour.
- Cut the onions into fine rings and braise them in butter for 25 minutes until soft and golden, without browning them.
- Let the onions cool, then stir in sour cream, eggs, flour, nutmeg, salt and pepper.
- Roll out the dough on a baking sheet and pull up a small rim.
- Spread the onion mixture evenly and sprinkle it with caraway.
- Bake at 190 °C for 35 minutes until the surface sets golden brown.
- Serve lukewarm.
