Ingredients · for 6 servings
400 g flour
1 tsp salt
230 ml lukewarm water
100 ml neutral oil
120 g butter
250 g honey
150 g almonds
1 tsp cinnamon
2 tbsp orange blossom water
Instructions
- Knead flour and salt with the water for 10 min into a very soft dough, divide into six balls, rub generously with oil and let rest covered for 40 min.
- Stretch each ball on a heavily oiled surface into a paper-thin, almost transparent sheet, and cut it with a knife into 5 mm narrow threads.
- Loosely wind the threads into six flat nests about 12 cm across without pressing them - the air between the threads makes the pastry crisp later.
- Melt the butter in a nonstick pan and fry the nests over medium heat for 4-5 min per side until golden brown and cooked through.
- Toast the almonds in a dry pan for 3 min, roughly chop, and warm the honey with the orange blossom water until it thins.
- Place the nests on a platter, pour over the honey, sprinkle with almonds and cinnamon, and serve warm.
